Objective: Design a visually engaging portfolio zine that showcases the artist’s body of work while reflecting their unique artistic style, strengthening their personal brand, and providing a professional presentation for galleries, collectors, and potential clients.
Designing a Zine is a thoughtful, multi-layered process that balances visual storytelling with clear communication. This portfolio zine was designed to showcase the artist’s paintings in a clean and engaging format. The design process began by analyzing the artist’s body of work, which informed the overall layout and structure. Since most of the paintings were created in a square format, a square zine was selected to best compliment the artwork and maintain visual consistency throughout the publication. Below are a selection of paintings featured in the zine.
Next was to find the Color Palette, Typeface, and Layout Design that will be used throughout the zine. Knowing her work was traditional fine arts, we went with a handwritten display type, clean body type, and pulled colors from a painting we decided was to be the cover of the zine.
Now to bridge the gap between Concept and Production, a collection of mockups was developed to visually demonstrate how the portfolio zine would translate from Digital Design to a finished Printed Product.
