towering titans
What do you see when you look at these images?
To me, they look like Towering Titans that once roamed the earth, now fossilized, and preserved in time. I am primarily an artist who works with Graphics, Fine Arts, and Printmaking, so Photography is a new realm of medium for me. However, although I have my favorite mediums that I work with often, I am not someone who stays in one specific lane. I tend to express my work creatively through multiple disciplines, using them as an extension of myself in order to bring to life a vision of mine.
My Influences in Photography are capturing subjects that seem ordinary, mundane, or seemingly unnoticed be others. Capsulating these subjects in an image is like a rehearsal before a big show. Preparing the stage, coaching the subject, and setting up the shot so that the viewer may see what I see. I often find myself fascinated with industrial scape, Landscape, and framing “ordinary” subjects in a peculiar manner.
The purpose of my work, regardless of what medium I choose to work in, is to offer an opportunity for the viewer to take a moment, observe, and experience a time which has already passed. Maybe they will feel the wind blowing as I did in these images when I shot them. Maybe they will reminisce on a memory when they first witnessed a water tower in real life. Maybe, just maybe, the work itself will invoke emotions within the viewer. That’s when I’ll know that I’ve succeeded in my work.
